I pray often for my children—especially my adult ones. While I have always believed, I know I didn’t always live the way I should have, and sometimes I worry about how that may have affected them.
My oldest says he believes in a higher power but hasn’t put a name to it. I’ve had to go no contact with my second because of his life choices, including anger and drugs. My bonus children believe, but they don’t truly live for the Lord, and I’m not sure if they’ve ever taken that step to be saved.
So I pray. I pray that God places the right people in each of their lives—people who can reach them in ways I sometimes cannot, and help guide them toward the right path.
My husband and I are raising our youngest daughter to love the Lord with all her heart, and in many ways, she helped bring us back to church. Now, we do our best to live a Godly life and be an example for all of our children. But I’ve come to understand that sometimes the message is heard best when it comes from someone in their own generation.
So I continue to trust, to pray, and to believe that God is working in their lives—even when I can’t see it.
